Saturday’s trip to Humberside has come too soon for him and he will not make the trip.
Defender Gabriel Paulista is also still out injured, though he is closing in on a return and could feature in the EFL Cup tie against Nottingham Forest next week.
There is better news concerning winger Theo Walcott. Manager Arsene Wenger confirmed that the England international is fit again after missing the midweek Champions League game at French champions Paris Saint-Germain.
Walcott is in contention for selection against the Tigers. Wenger said he would be assessed ahead of the game to see if he would be able to take a place in the squad.
