David Alaba favours Arsenal move over Man Utd
Bayern Munich star David Alaba would prefer to join Arsenal rather than Manchester United should he move to the Premier League, according to the Manchester Evening News.
United have been linked with an attempt to sign the midfielder having scouted his last three games for the Austria national team.
But the 24-year-old is said to be more interested in a move to the Gunners.
Alaba was apparently a boyhood Arsenal fan when he was growing up in Vienna. He also favours a move to London over Manchester, which also put paid to any thoughts of a reunion with his former Bayern boss Pep Guardiola.
He has been on the Bavarian giants’ books since the summer of 2008, when he was aged 16. Despite having signed a new contract in March to keep him at the Bundesliga club until June 2021, there is reportedly a sense that he is more likely to leave since Carlo Ancelotti took charge.
A fee of £34m is mentioned.
