Ashley Young signs new one-year contract
Manchester United veteran Ashley Young has signed a new one-year contract.
The 33-year-old was due to be out of contract at the end of the season, but has now put pen to paper on an extension that will keep him at Old Trafford until June 2020.
Former winger Young is currently the Red Devils’ first-choice right-back. He was rested for last weekend’s win over Fulham, but is expected to be reinstated to caretaker manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side for tomorrow’s Champions League last-16 first leg against Paris Saint-Germain.
He has also been skippered the side in recent weeks, with club captain Antonio Valencia out of favour and struggling with injuries.
Young joined United from Aston Villa in a £17m move in 2011.
He has since made 227 appearances and won the Premier League, FA Cup, Europa League and League Cup.
His new deal follows the recent contract extensions signed by team-mates Anthony Martial and Phil Jones.
