Video: Algeria national team bus attacked with rocks by Egypt fans
Crunch match gets crunchier
Algeria’s World Cup qualifier against Egypt on Saturday will have extra bite (as if it needed it) after their team bus was attacked by Egyptian fans. The coach had not even left the airport when rocks were thrown threw the windows, injuring three players.
Rafik Saifi, who was hit on his hand, and Rafik Halliche and Khaled Lemmouchia both suffered head injuries. You can see photos of the injured players after the jump.
VfL Bochum player Antar Yahia described the situation. He said: “They struck our bus with large bricks. Players have open head wounds with blood. We were lying down in the bus. All the windows were broken. It makes you fear for your life. As long as our lives are not assured we’re afraid to play this match.”
