Jose Mourinho given touchline ban for handcuff gesture
The Special One’s in trouble again
Inter Milan boss Jose Mourinho has been given a three-match touchline ban for giving a handcuff gesture during his side’s 0-0 draw with Sampdoria last weekend. But the ban applies in domestic matches only and Mourinho will be free to stalk the touchline against former club Chelsea tomorrow night.
Mourinho whipped out his invisible handcuffs after Inter defenders Walter Samuel and Ivan Cordoba were both sent-off.
The Italian authorities interpreted the gesture as Mourinho suggesting his side was being victimised by the referee, despite his alternative version of events. He lied: “In crossing my wrists, I was saying they would have to arrest me to make me lose.”
He was fined almost £40,000.
