Video: Turkish coach stabbed during match by his brother
Sibling knifes manager six times on touchline
These crazy scenes come from Turkey’s second division where Mersin Idman Yurdu coach Yuksel Yesilova was stabbed in the stomach and hip during a match against Samsunspor. The culprit was his elder brother Murat, who attended the match as a spectator before jumping onto the pitch and assaulting Yuksel.
The Governor for the area, Huseyin Aksoy, said Murat had claimed the attack was due to “personal issues” during his first police interview.
These issues are alleged to relate to accusations that Yuksel had been abusing a member of Murat’s family.
Murat’s son said: “This person is interfering with me, my mother, my father and my other siblings. He has psychological issues. I have filed complaints against him several times and he was hit with a three-month ban for that.”
Other victims of the incident include Samsunspor, who could be hit with a two-match ban after getting embroiled in the family row since the attack happened at their stadium.
