Ryan Babel in hot water over mocked up photo of Howard Webb
Naughty naughty Ryan
Above is a picture of Howard Webb mocked up in a Manchester United shirt, as provided to the world by Liverpool player Ryan Babel on Twitter, less than four hours after their game had ended.
After their defeat to Manchester United, Babel tweeted the following message:
And they call him one of the best referees. That’s a joke smh
Ok, we will do this as a list:
1. The penalty was questionable. The red card was a stupid, naive challenge from an experienced captain.
2. Howard IS one of the best referees.
3. You are a professional footballer with professional responsibilities. Have some decorum sunshine.
4. Are you aware that this Twitter thing is available to the whole world?
Within two hours of his tweet, The Guardian reported that Babel would face an FA investigation because Babel had suggested that there was a degree of unimpartiality to Webb’s performance.
Footballers, eh? Silly boys.
Update: Babel tweeted twice more on Sunday evening. One said “Sorry Howard Webb”, whilst the second was a more grovelling apology:
My apology if they take my posted pic seriously. This is just a (sic) emotional reaction after losing an important game
Tail between legs anyone?
