Darren Ferguson: ‘Strange dad Sir Alex will stay away from play-off final’
Peterborough manager Darren Ferguson says his ‘strange’ dad Sir Alex Ferguson will skip his side’s League One play-off final for superstitious reasons.
Ferguson Jr admits that he too would have fears about the Manchester United manager jinxing him for the match, which is being held at Old Trafford.
He told the BBC: “I wasn’t going to tell him to stay away, but I think he is going to.
“He understands it, these superstitious things, you know what they’re like.
“He doesn’t mind staying away and we win.
“If he comes, he comes, is it going to make a difference on the pitch? You wouldn’t think so would you, but these superstitious people are a bit strange aren’t they?”
The Posh boss – an ex-United player himself – says he will be putting his Old Trafford connections to the back of his mind ahead of the match against Huddersfield.
