Ex-Birmingham striker Garry O’Connor arrested on suspicion of cocaine possession
Three Scottish football drug busts
Scotland international Garry O’Connor has been arrested after police found him in possession of a white substance, believed to be cocaine.
The 28-year-old fled when officers approached a parked car he was sitting in with another person on Saturday night. O’Connor was quickly tracked down to Hope Street in Edinburgh, where officers found the white powder in his possession.
O’Connor was most recently playing at Barnsley and had been linked with a move to Celtic following his release.
In a separate incident, Hearts players Ian Black and Robert Ogleby were arrested in a nightclub toilet on Sunday night after they were caught in possession of a class A drug.
A police spokesperson last night confirmed: “Two men, aged 26 and 19, have been cautioned and charged with possession.”
On O’Connor’s arrest a police spokesman said: “A 28-year-old man was detained and released pending further inquiries.”
