Aston Villa striker Darren Bent takes on Kasabian in a real-life football video game
‘What does that even mean?’ I hear you ask. It means that Darren Bent and Kasabian frontman Tom Meighan were both handed a five-a-side team to control. Literally.
The players were kitted out with some fancy headgear which instructed them to strike, tackle, cross, dribble, slide, pass as directed by Bent and Meighan from their Xperia™ PLAY smart phones. So, like a video game, but with real-life footballers.
Bent said: “It was great fun using the Xperia™ PLAY to control my players and completely surreal. I never thought in a million years I’d be playing football against a rockstar.”
Newcastle manager Alan Pardew is rumoured to be interested in introducing the technology as a way of having some idea what Sammy Ameobi will do next.
