Blackburn owners Venky’s wanted Kelly Rowland and Akon to calm disgruntled fans
Blackburn Rovers’ owners aimed to take the stung out of their supporters’ anger by hosting a free R&B concert for them at the start of the season.
Fans were already angry at the performance of owners Venky’s and manager Steve Kean before their appalling start to the current campaign. Now The Guardian has seen evidence that their were plans to pacify the Ewood Park faithful by laying on a music concert!
Akon, Kelly Rowland and David Guetta were among the artists reportedly approached about performing at Ewood Park on 12 August.
Estimates from music industry experts suggest the concert would have cost a seven-figure sum to stage, but that Venky’s had the same chance of attracting their main targets as when they went after Ronaldinho and David Beckham.
