Notts County striker Lee Hughes arrested over sexual assault
Notts County’s Lee Hughes has been arrested on suspicion of a sexual assault.
Hughes was arrested at a hotel in south London after police were called to an incident at 11pm on Saturday.
A 35-year-old man, reportedly Hughes, was arrested at the hotel in Croydon and taken into custody. He was bailed until a date in late-January, pending further inquiries.
A Notts County statement read: “Notts County can confirm that the club are aware of an alleged incident involving one of our players at the team’s hotel on Saturday, 3 December.
“As this is a police matter, the club will be making no further comment on this incident.”
The Magpies were staying in Croydon on Saturday night ahead of their clash with Sutton United on Sunday.
