Robin Van Persie keeps son Shaqueel out of Arsenal’s grasp
No Shaq attack for Gunners
Robin Van Persie’s son has snubbed a move to Arsenal in favour of his local junior football team.
Arsenal fans might be more concerned about keeping Van Persie Senior on their books, but the Gunners had invited five-year-old Shaqueel Van Persie to join their youth ranks.
OTP isn’t sure what it says about the Van Persies’ faith in Arsenal’s coaching system, but both father and son are keen to keep the youngster with his local team.
Robin told The Guardian: “I honestly have to say that he [Shaqueel] has got a lot of talent for football. I recognise a lot of stuff of myself in him. His coach is really great. Arsenal has invited him a couple of times to come and play there but he likes it at his club. He’s sensitive for a good atmosphere. Just like me.”
So Arsenal club captain Robin Van Persie won’t let his son train at the club because he wants to keep him playing football somewhere with a good atmosphere.
