Norwich striker Grant Holt is not playing pocket billiards or playing for England
Norwich superstar Grant Holt has played down his England prospects in what sounded like an angry response to suggestions that he’s getting a bit frisky.
Believe it or not, Holt was asked if he was expecting an England call-up and not whether he was molesting himself when he said: “I’m not holding my phone tightly in my pocket and waiting.”
OTP and our Podcast have been campaigning for some time to get Holt on the plane (albeit partially tongue-in-cheek). And now is the time to renew those calls.
Darren Bent, England’s most natural goalscorer, is now likely to miss Euro 2012 after damaging his ankle ligaments. England will be heading into the tournament with a manager who has been in the post for a matter of weeks and never taken charge of the team in a competitive match.
If we’re going to take the Mike Bassett approach to international football, let’s do it properly: give Holt his call-up.
