Video: Spanish ref does a Graham Poll (Villarreal 1-1 Real Madrid)
Real Madrid’s 1-1 draw with Villarreal last night was fascinating for a whole load of reasons, not least because it added a bit more doubt to the Spanish title race as Real dropped more points.
There were also five red cards shown as Real Madrid lost their discipline following the home side’s equaliser. Manager Jose Mourinho, coach Rui Faria and players Sergio Ramos and Mesut Ozil were all dismissed during the match, with Pepe (predictably) getting sent-off in the tunnel afterwards.
But it was a red card that didn’t happen that was the main talking point. Villarreal’s Marco Ruben was shown two yellow cards, but for some reason that didn’t add up to a red.
After the match ref Paradas Romero claimed the first yellow card was actually given to Marcos Senna for “making comments about my decisions”.
