Video: Wayne Rooney breaks a nine-year-old boy’s wrist (Manchester United 5-0 Wolves)
Video footage of Wayne Rooney breaking a nine-year-old kid’s wrist has emerged.
United fan Jamie Thomas has been trawling his plaster cast around the media in recent days after his first trip to watch the Red Devils was spoilt some what by having his wrist broken by a stray Rooney shot during the pre-match warm-up.
Rooney’s wayward effort before United’s thrashing at Wolves caused Jamie to miss most of the second-half. Originally pacified by the buzz of the occasion, it some became clear that he needed to go to hospital.
The youngster said: “It all happened so fast, one minute I was watching Wayne take shots at goal and the next the ball was flying towards me. It was coming really fast and I just put my hands up.
“I felt like a rocket had hit my arm but I was buzzing because Wayne had kicked it. I thought my arm and wrist was okay but it was getting more painful.”
Rooney, who was unaware of the incident before it hit the papers, has now apologised.
He tweeted: “I want to apologise to Jamie Thomas. I have arranged for a letter and a signed shirt to be sent to his home address.”
