Manchester City boss Roberto Mancini claims he didn’t know Manchester United were playing last night
Roberto Mancini has given a clear indication that he has brought his psychological warfare A-game for the final five games of the Premier League season.
The Manchester City boss was in fine form after his side brushed aside West Brom in a 4-0 victory. Looking far more comfortable in the role of title underdog, Mancini went into mind games overdrive.
He suggested that he was unaware that rivals Manchester United had a match last night and was wondering what his own supporters had been cheering in the second half, when Wigan had scored their winner against United.
He said: “I thought United were playing tomorrow, I only found out after the game. I didn’t know why our fans were excited.”
The Italian was also quick to play down suggestions of a dramatic comeback in the title race, insisting it is “finished”.
He said: “It is finished. Five points is too much. United have got fantastic spirit. We don’t have this spirit.”
Good work, Roberto.
