England’s Euro 2012 goals and Andrea Pirlo’s Panenka penalty retold in stunning string animation
When football comes with strings attached, it normally means fans are being shafted with extortionate ticket prices. Happily, on this occasion it means a delightful depiction of some of the most memorable goals in England’s Euro 2012 campaign.
OTP are particularly fond of the remake of Andrea Pirlo’s sumptuous Panenka penalty for Italy: the lusciously languid shot that strung up the Three Lions is captured perfectly.
As for the wool-based retelling of John Terry’s goal-line clearance, we think it could provide a rather precise aid for officials when future controversies come to pass… although we suspect popping together an animation may disrupt the flow of the game somewhat.
The stylish and painstakingly choreographed video is from inventive animator Richard Swarbrick.
We clocked his cracking animation of Gareth Bale’s Champions League performances last year, and he was soon rewarded with the chance to brushstroke Wayne Rooney for The Sun’s Premier League coverage promo.
Indeed, it was the most animated we saw the Manchester United striker all summer. Sorry, Wayne, Fabio Capello’s jaunty jibes at you have clearly rubbed off on us.
