Neymar misses an absolute sitter for Brazil. Cursed by British boy?
Brazilian sensation Neymar is quite possibly the biggest football name at the London 2012 Olympics. Given his flamboyant flicks and eye-catching invention with the ball, it’s easy to see why the world’s biggest clubs are buzzing around him like a bee over spilt Tango.
The stick-thin prodigy failed to add to his endless showreel of goals on YouTube after he melted the ball over an open goal in yesterday’s game against New Zealand, which the samba boys won 3-0.
The appalling miss comes less than a day after he met a young British kid – a supposed superfan of Nemar who met his hero at Brazil’s team hotel. An accompanying video of the encounter should have left us going down the ‘awww, that is adorable’ route.
Instead the bizarre music-backing of John Lennon’s ‘Imagine’ coupled with freeze frames of the child staring in to the distance and spying on Neymar as he worked out in the swimming pool made for a chilling watch.
Call it tenuous, call it barking mad, we declare this a fiendish curse that will cripple Neymar’s goal scoring antics for the remainder of the tournament – a desperate hope very much fueled by the realisation that Team GB will inevitably face the anti-surname mavericks in the semi-finals.
