Dinamo Zagreb’s Domagoj Vida fined £80,000 for opening beer can en route to match
Dinamo Zagreb have handed defender Domagoj Vida a €100,000 (£80,000) fine after he opened a can of beer on the team bus on the way to a game.
The squad were leaving Zagreb on Monday evening ahead of a cup game against lower-league side NK Vrsar on Tuesday when Vida decided a few bevvies would make the journey pass a bit quicker.
Coach Ante Cacic had other ideas and ordered the 23-year-old to leave the bus immediately.
A statement on the club’s website read: “The Dinamo management has decided to punish Vida, a Croatia international with 14 caps, with a financial penalty of €100,000 for his behaviour.”
Perhaps Vida could demand a transfer to Red Stripe Belgrade. Or Partycan Belgrade.
