Bet’s be ‘avin you: Football betting tips for 27-28 October
A third consecutive week of significant profit, with the accumulator winning, providing a 157% return on stake. Going for four in a row with some more bets across the English leagues. Decided to keep the same format as last week, ie a speculative single, an accumulator and two goalscorer bets.
The single will this week go on Leeds, exactly the same as last week. Whilst they didn’t win at Wednesday (and in fact disgraced themselves in the process), they face a Birmingham side that have not won in four games, and look a shadow of their former selves under Lee Clark. Leeds are unbeaten in seven games in all competitions, winning four of those, so making them better than evens looks generous. Don’t cost me another £20 Warnock.
£20 on Leeds to beat Birmingham gets you £42
And so to the accumulator, and it is going to be a lower league special. Brentford won at home to Coventry in midweek and face bottom of the table Hartlepool, whilst Crawley host and Oldham side that saw a recent improvement halted by Carlisle in midweek, and hope that these away day troubles continue. The value in the treble comes from Port Vale at odds against away at Northampton, but Vale have lost just one of their last 14 (and that to leaders Gillingham) whereas Northampton have won just two of eight and both of their last two without scoring
£10 on Brentford, Crawley and Port Vale gets you £68
Without wanting to arrive too late to the CHarlie Austin party, it is impossible to ignore the sort of form he has shown. Eighteen goals in fourteen game is just ridiculous and yet, because his Burnley side travel to Cardiff this weekend, value still exists on him bagging the first goal. In a league as hopping mad as the Championship Burnley should never be 4/1 to win the game, but instead I’ll take the 6/1 on Austin notching first.
£5 on Charlie Austin to score first goal gets you £35
Finally, a first scorer for Sunday. Not touching the big games because they are too unpredictable, so instead focussing on Newcastle v West Brom. With Papiss Cisse starting for Newcastle on Thursday, one suspects that he will be benched for Sunday, which makes firms having him the same price as Demba Ba slightly odd. Ba, given a rest against Club Brugge, is available at 11/2 with Coral, which given that he is 15/4 elsewhere looks friendly.
