Video: Robin Van Persie wrongly told he’s man of the match, forced to hand trophy to Manchester United team-mate Wayne Rooney
Robin Van Persie ended his Manchester United goal drought from the penalty spot during today’s victory against Stoke.
He obviously thought his neat spot-kick had earned him some plaudits when Geoff Shreeves oversaw the presentation of the man of the match award during his post-game interview. The only problem being that Sky Sports viewers knew full well that co-commentator Gary Neville had made Wayne Rooney his man of the match.
RVP was forced to hand over the trophy to his team-mate during an awkward second presentation.
Typical Shreeves – always engineering needless heartache into his interviews.
