The last piece of chewing gum of Sir Alex Ferguson’s Man Utd reign listed on eBay
A piece of chewing gum reported to be the last chewed by Sir Alex Ferguson as a football manager is available to buy on eBay.
The gum was reportedly retrieved by a fan at the Hawthorns on Sunday afternoon, placed in a wooden case and stuck on the internet auction site.
The listing read: “Used chewing gum: RARE. Recovered from The Hawthorns. Clear perspex/wooden case. Unofficial merchandise, rumoured to belong to Sir Alex.
“After 1,500 games of intense chewing as manager of Man Utd, here lies Fegie’s last piece of chewing gum.
“All proceeds go to the MU Foundation charity. Happy bidding.”
Bidding quickly four figures, but the listing now seems to have been removed, suggesting we’re not the only ones a little dubious about the authenticity of this discarded piece of confectionary.
