Tottenham, Fulham and Aston Villa set to battle for Watford’s Matej Vydra
Spurs, Fulham and Aston Villa will head the race for Watford star Matej Vydra – if the Hornets fail to make it to the Premier League.
The 21-year-old is one of a host of Udinese players currently on loan at Vicarage Road. His 22 goals have been instrumental as Gianfranco Zola’s side have pushed for promotion.
If they now beat Crystal Palace in the Championship play-off final, Watford will be able to keep Vydra for another season. But if they lose out at Wembley then the Czech youngster is likely to seek an alternative route to Premier League football for next season.
Tottenham, Fulham and Aston Villa have all made enquiries with Vydra’s parent club, according to the London Evening Standard. A bid of more than £5 million will be needed to convince the Pozzo family – owners of both Udinese and Watford – to sell.
