Arsenal STILL can’t get rid of Nicklas Bendtner
Like a stubborn best striker in the world you can’t quite flush down the toilet, Nicklas Bendtner is determined to hang around at Arsenal.
Despite the Gunners’ best attempts to rid themselves of the Denmark international, they can’t shift him.
His transfer to Eintracht Frankfurt has fallen through, with the 25-year-old’s wage demands proving to be the stumbling block.
Frankfurt chairman Heribert Bruchhagen didn’t specify that wages were the problem, but said it was not financially viable and that there are no problems with Arsenal. That sort of narrows it down.
He told German magazine Kicker: “After weighing up all the arguments, Bendtner turned out not to be a realistic prospect.
“Now it’s up to us. There are no problems with Arsenal. We have to see if it’s financially viable.”
Arsenal fans have long since lost patience for their former youngster and his considerable ego. He spent last season on-loan at Juventus, where he didn’t score a single league goal.
Reports in Italy suggested the Juve club shop had not sold a single replica shirt bearing his name.
