Liverpool set to let Martin Skrtel join Napoli on loan
It looks like retro Liverpool fans will be supporting Napoli this season.
Hot on the heels of new manager Rafa Benitez and goalkeeper Pepe Reina being unveiled at the Serie A side comes the news that centre-back Martin Skrtel could be about to join them.
The 28-year-old will be reunited with Benitez for a season-long loan deal. But the deal will include a clause allowing Napoli to make the move a permanent one if the Slovakia international stays fit.
Reds boss Brendan Rodgers has already signed Kolo Toure to replace the retiring Jamie Carragher. With a lack of centre-halves on the books at Anfield, Skrtel’s departure would almost certainly force Rodgers to make another signing.
Fan favourite Skrtel had previously said he would fight for his place in Rodgers’ team.
