Arsenal legend Ian Wright brands Spurs’ Gareth Bale asking price as ‘ridiculous’
Ian Wright has dismissed the transfer fees being touted ahead of Gareth Bale’s move to Real Madrid as “ridiculous”.
The Arsenal legend praised the Spurs star’s ability but was clearly struggling to work out precisely what the Welshman is expected to produce in order to justify he price tag.
Wright said: “Fantastic player. It is getting into ridiculous sums of money, if we going to be totally honest and I feel that when you look at Cristiano Ronaldo and what he has done for an £80 million player, we said the same thing before that, before he went there.
“But if you can say that someone has justified their pricetag, scoring more than a goal a game at a club like Real Madrid is unbelievable.
“So if Gareth Bale is going to cost £20 million more than him, what are we expecting from him.
“It seems ridiculous, really.”
Wright and fellow north London legends Les Ferdinand, Tony Adams and Ledley King also gave their thoughts on this Sunday’s clash between Arsenal and Spurs.
