Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho suggests Man Utd striker Wayne Rooney ‘started process’ of transfer rumours
Jose Mourinho has indicated it was Wayne Rooney who “started the process” of a potential move from Manchester United to Chelsea.
The Blues boss was speaking ahead of tonight’s Super Cup clash with Bayern Munich.
Asked about the Rooney situation, Mourinho answered that nothing had changed since his comments on Monday evening, when he said he thought the England international had “probably” changed his mind and now wanted to stay at Old Trafford.
And the former Real Madrid coach was keen for Chelsea not to be portrayed as waging some unwanted transfer pursuit.
He said: “Rooney, I told you what I have to say.
“I think I left very, very clear that we didn’t start the process that started all the stories you wrote during these last weeks.
“We have nothing more to say. He’s a Man United player and and no more than that.”
