Is former West Ham striker Carlton Cole on trial at Tottenham?
Spurs could be lining up a shock move for Carlton Cole after the ex-West Ham man played for them in a behind-closed-doors friendly.
Reports suggest he scored two goals against non-league Enfield Town in a game played at Spurs’ training ground yesterday.
Tottenham fans are desperate for manager Andre Villas Boas and chairman Daniel Levy to bring in a new striker… but Cole is probably not among the names they had in mind.
The 29-year-old was released by the Hammers at the end of last season after failing to make an impression since the club returned to the Premier League.
It seems he has been offered a lifeline of some kind by Spurs, whether that’s the chance to prove he deserves a place in their squad or the opportunity to maintain his fitness until he finds a new team.
He had previously been linked with a move to top-flight newcomers Crystal Palace, but that hasn’t yet materialised.
New signing Roberto Soldado reportedly bagged a hat-trick in the match against Enfield.
