Robbie Fowler tells Arsenal fans to ‘look closer to home’ for coke-heads
We reported yesterday that Liverpool legend Robbie Fowler had suggested a £30m plus Theo Walcott deal to end the Luis Suarez transfer saga.
And as we reported, it was an idea that was almost universally hated. That prompted lots of Twitter abuse, including plenty Arsenal fans raking up old rumours from the 1990s suggesting that Fowler is a cocaine user.
But he responded with a tweet suggesting Gooners should worry about coke-heads in their own ranks before concerning themselves with him.
He wrote: “For all Arsenal fans calling me coke head… Look closer to home. That is all.”
That sparked a bit of a guessing game as to whether Fowler was referring to Arsenal greats who have admitted to using cocaine, such as Paul Merson, or members of the Gunners’ current squad.
Fowler deleted the tweet shortly after it was sent.
