Uruguayan newspaper quotes Luis Suarez as saying he is staying at Liverpool
Luis Suarez has performed a transfer saga U-turn and decided to stay at Liverpool, according to reports in his native Uruguay.
El Observador claims to have spoken to Suarez in the build up to Uruguay’s friendly against Japan. They claim he told them that the affection of Liverpool fans had convinced him to stay.
He is quoted as saying: “Right now, because of all the affection from the Liverpool fans, I will be staying.”
If that proves to be the case he will have performed what is known as the Steven Gerrard Manoeuvre, whereby one pushes for a transfer, goes to the very brink of leaving the club before deciding to stay.
Since he went public with two newspaper interviews outlining his determination to leave Anfield this summer, it will be tricky for Suarez to dismiss the rumours as idle newspaper gossip.
Can you forgive and forget if he stays, Liverpool fans?
