Wolfsburg set to pip Arsenal to Bayern Munich’s Luiz Gustavo
Arsenal could be set to miss out on yet another transfer target this summer with the German media reporting that Wolfsburg are close to completing the signing of Bayern Munich midfielder Luiz Gustavo.
The Brazil international had been tipped to move to the Emirates. But Bild reports that the defensive midfielder is instead set to move to Bayern’s Bundesliga rivals Wolfsburg.
They acknowledge this would be a strange move with several Champions League clubs interested in him.
Brazil coach Luiz Felipe Scolari has dropped big hints that Gustavo should quit Bayern if he is not going to get regular matches under Pep Guardiola.
He said: “We will be watching the foreign leagues in the coming months. But I can watch no player who is sitting on the bench.”
With a home World Cup in Brazil looming at the end of the season, the 26-year-old is keen to heed Scolari’s warning.
