Aleksandar Kolarov: ‘Man City players are looking forward to Vincent Kompany’s return’
Manchester City left-back Aleksandar Kolarov says the squad are looking forward to welcoming captain Vincent Kompany back into the team.
The Belgium international has been out of action since limping off during the club’s Premier League opener against Newcastle.
But he is expected to be fit to start tonight’s Champions League opener against Czech side Viktoria Plzen, and Kolarov is delighted to be welcoming him back.
He said: “Vincent is our captain and is a very important player for us. Now he is 100 percent. He is a very important player for. He is our leader. We are looking forward to playing again with him.”
Meanwhile, Plzen coach Pavel Vrba has warned his side not to take too many touches against City.
He said: “Manchester City have great players, very technical and fast.
“I warned my players that we can’t afford to have too many touches, because City are quite aggressive, and technically superior. Any mistakes we make will be quickly punished.”
