Ander Herrera set to join Man Utd, on the bench for Athletic Bilbao

Athletic Bilbao midfielder Ander Herrera is set to join Manchester United – as long as the champions meet his £30m release clause.
The 24-year-old sat on the bench for the Basque side during today’s lunchtime kick-off against Real Madrid. He has never previously been named as a substitute when fit to play.
Reports in the Spanish media claim that he has agreed personal terms with David Moyes’ side.
However, Athletic are demanding that United pay his buy-out clause of €36m. And the player himself will not request a transfer or agitate for a move.
United had a £21m bid for Herrera rejected last week. Reports in the UK media had suggested that they would return with an improved offer today or tomorrow.
It now seems that they will have to stump up the extra £9m to make sure the move happens.
The player’s father Pedro had previously played down the reports.
He told Mundo Deportivo: “Ander is getting on very well at Athletic, very content. He’s fought hard to come to this club and it’s very difficult for him to leave.
“I think it’s Manchester United’s decision, since they have not found a replacement for Cesc Fabregas. They’ve decided to opt for a creative player and have thought about Ander.”
