Chelsea scouting Everton midfielder Ross Barkley
Chelsea are said to be upping their interest in Everton midfielder Ross Barkley.
The 19-year-old made his England debut against Moldova last week, and is very much a target for the Blues.
The west London club will use today’s meeting between the two sides to add to their growing scouting dossier on Barkley, the Daily Mail reports.
The reports claim that Chelsea already have numerous detailed reports on his performances.
The rumours are that Barkley is the mysterious “young English player” that Mourinho yesterday admitted making an enquiry for during the summer transfer window.
He said: “I like a young player, a young English player.
“The market is closed but I asked a question to position myself to see where he was. We are speaking about a very young player but his price was like he has 50 caps when he had none.
“The price for English players is very high, the market is very difficult.”
Chelsea will continue to monitor the youngster, but it seems a bid of more than £20m would be needed to convince the Toffees to sell.
