David Moyes: ‘I’m still learning at Man Utd’
David Moyes says he is still learning what it takes to be Manchester United manager – but he thinks predecessor Sir Alex Ferguson was still learning until the moment he retired from the job.
The Scot says he has learnt something new every week since taking over at Old Trafford.
He said: “I’ve been learning ever week since I got here about being Manchester United, since the day I walked in, learnt something the first day and I continue to learn. I don’t think it is going to change here for a long time.
“I even think the manager who has just left, I think he was continually learning on the job as well.
“I’m relatively new to it, so I am still learning everything about it.”
Moyes also tipped his players to bounce back from defeat to Manchester City in their last Premier League game when they face West Brom this weekend.
He said: “Well I think in a way – I don’t want to say it is insulting to the players, but the players here I hope you would know exactly how they would react.
“They react the way they showed, they were hurt by the defeat. They are determined to put it right – they showed that in the game against Liverpool – and I am looking for them to show the supporters that they mean that again in the game tomorrow.
“We said that we didn’t enjoy it, we will try and make sure that it doesn’t happen again and we will try and give the supporters something to shout about.”
