Fabio Borini’s agent: ‘Joining Liverpool was a mistake’
Fabio Borini’s agent claims his client made a mistake when he decided to join Liverpool last summer.
The Italy international moved to Anfield from Roma in a £10.5m deal, but injuries and lack of form kept him sidelined for much of his debut season.
He has now been sent on loan to Sunderland.
His agent Marco De Marchi has spoken out in the Italian media, saying Borini should never have left Roma.
He told Radio Mana Mana: “I think Fabio would have been the ideal player for [former Roma coach Zdenek] Zeman last year.
“But the decision was made to leave Roma. Of course, it all happened very quickly and there was no chance to talk with the coach.
“But having said that, I still think Roma would have been the right team for Fabio.”
Borini had scored 10 goals in 26 games for Roma in the previous season.
