Heerenveen striker Alfred Finnbogason in Newcastle’s sights
Newcastle are aiming to draw a line under their disastrous summer transfer window by starting to plan for their January targets.
High on the list of priorities is Iceland international Alfred Finnbogason.
The Heerenveen striker, who scored 24 goals in last season’s Eredivisie, was reportedly offered to the Magpies for around £5m over the summer.
They passed up the chance to sign the 24-year-old on that occasion, but could make a move in January, according to reports in The Journal.
The club’s scouting network has sprung into life over the weekend, with owner Mike Ashley determined to find bargain buys and better value than the club was able to find over the summer.
