Liverpool keeper Pepe Reina set to join Barcelona in the summer
Pepe Reina seems likely to have played his last game for Liverpool, with media reports in Spain suggesting he has already agreed a deal that will see him join Barcelona next season.
The long-serving keeper has been shipped out on loan to Napoli this season after Brendan Rodgers paid £9m to bring Sunderland goalie Simon Mignolet to the club.
The Spaniard was public in his criticism of Rodgers and the club’s hierarchy for agreeing to his loan move without first consulting with him.
Although he later back-pedalled slightly, it now seems likely that his days playing for the Reds are numbered.
If the reports are accurate, the 31-year-old will complete his season in Serie A under former Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez, before moving to Camp Nou in the summer.
The Catalan giants need a new number one after Victor Valdes announced he would quit the club when his contract expires next summer.
Reina still has three years left on his deal at Anfield, but the Reds would be delighted to shift his mammoth salary off the wage bill.
