Liverpool scout Lazio’s ice cube prankster Keita Balde Diao
Liverpool sent scouts to watch former Barcelona youngster Keita Balde Diao in Lazio’s Europa League victory over Legia Warsaw last week.
Sky Italia reports that the Reds are keeping tabs on the 18-year-old, who joined the Italian side in 2011.
He was rated as one of Barca’s hottest prospects until he fell out with the club over a prank in which he put ice cubes in a team-mate’s bed during a tour of Qatar.
The then 15-year-old was sent out to satellite club Cornella as punishment, and refused the chance rejoin the Catalan giants when the opportunity arose. Instead he decided to move to Lazio.
The striker, born in Spain to Senegalese parents, has now broken into the first-team squad, and set-up the only goal in a 1-0 win over Legia.
Keita is under contract until June 2017, but Lazio could be happy to pocket a tidy return on a player who cost just £250,000 two seasons ago.
