Manchester United ‘had bid rejected for Wesley Sneijder’, claim Galatasaray
News of Manchester United’s scattergun approach to transfer activity this summer continues with Turkish side Galatasaray claiming they rejected a bid for midfielder Wesley Sneijder a fortnight ago.
It is not clear how much the champions bid for the Netherlands international, but the timing of the offer suggests that he was above Athletic Bilbao’s Ander Herrera in their list of targets.
Galatasaray sporting director Bulunt Tulun claimed that an offer had been received but rejected because his club did not want to sell their best players.
He said: “Sneijder received an indirect offer from Manchester United two weeks ago but it was not accepted.
“There are several clubs that want him but just like we can’t let go of [striker] Burak [Yilmaz] we also have to keep hold of Sneijder.”
The 29-year-old has been a United target since his Inter Milan days.
