West Ham set to sign ex-Fulham striker Mladen Petric as Andy Carroll suffers new injury
West Ham are set to snap up free agent Mladen Petric.
The Hammers have moved to strengthen their already lightweight strikeforce after first-choice forward Andy Carroll suffered a new injury.
The England international picked up a foot injury in training yesterday. The 24-year-old, signed from Liverpool for £15m in the summer, is waiting for confirmation of how serious the injury is, but the fear is that he will be out of action until 2014.
That’s prompted Sam Allardyce to move for former Fulham striker Petric, who has been without a club since his release by the Cottagers at the end of last season.
The 32-year-old Croatia international scored five goals in 23 appearances during his one-season spell at Craven Cottage.
He has previously played for FC Baden, Grasshopper, Basel, Borussia Dortmund and Hamburg.
