Liverpool linked with January move for Malaga keeper Guillermo Ochoa
Liverpool are set to renew their interest in Mexico’s World Cup star Guillermo Ochoa, according to reports.
The 29-year-old goalkeeper was in demand after his sensational performances in Brazil and ultimately ended up signing for La Liga side Malaga.
But he could now be on the move against because he has found himself operating as understudy to Carlos Kameni in manager Javi Gracia’s pecking order.
Brendan Rodgers’ Reds, who were linked with Ochoa after the World Cup, could now launch a fresh attempt to sign him in the January transfer window, claims the Daily Star.
The 29-year-old has previously spent three seasons at French side Ajaccio before leaving on a free transfer in the summer.
On the prospect of selling their recent signing, Malaga general director Vicente Casado said the situation would be reassessed in December.
He said: “It’s a topic [Ochoa leaving] that we don’t even bring up at the moment.
“We still think Guillermo will fight [for his place] in every training session and then we’ll see in December.”
