Liverpool striker Mario Balotelli impressing with new attitude at Italy training
Liverpool’s under fire striker Mario Balotelli has been impressing Italy’s players and staff with his new found hard-working attitude, according to reports.
The Reds striker had been omitted from Antonio Conte’s first two Azzurri squads but received a shock call-up for the games against Croatia and Albania.
Italy captain Gianluigi Buffon and Daniele De Rossi were unhappy with Balotelli after Italy’s first-round exit at the World Cup – with both briefed ahead of the former Milan player’s recall.
And according to La Stampa ‘keeper Buffon has now taken Balotelli under his wing.
The newspaper reports the striker sat with the stopper during yesterday’s lunch while in training the forward displayed a new attitude after quietly accepting a round of push-ups as penance for failing to intercept a pass.
The ex-Manchester City attacker has now given Conte food for thought over his selection with him even now in consideration to lead the line against Croatia.
