Rio Ferdinand ruled out of World Cup. Will the curse of Nike hit James Milner next?
Don’t play to be remembered
Nike’s mock-Mount Rushmore advertisement seems to have struck again with Rio Ferdinand ruled out of the World Cup. If you thought Emile Heskey wasn’t going to have much of an impact at the tournament, you were wrong. He has already made a big impact on his captain’s knee which has left the centre-back sidelined.
Ferdinand’s injury makes him the second England player to be hit by the curse of Nike’s rock-carving billboard in London. With Theo Walcott being cut from the squad a day after the advert was unveiled, the Play To Be Remembered slogan is currently only applicable to the two remaining players.
James Milner is next in line. Stay safe, James.
