Football managers want Robert De Niro to play them in the film of their life
Acting legend Roberto De Niro is the man most football managers would like to take the starring role in a film of their life.
That’s if a straw poll by Yahoo!’s The Dugout is anything to go by. Over the last season, they asked more than 30 managers who they’d cast as themselves. De Niro led the way with five managers picking him.
Newcastle manager Alan Pardew, Fulham’s Martin Jol, Glenn Roeder, Kevin Keegan and Steve Coppell all saw a bit of themselves in the Raging Bull star.
Avram Grant, Roy Evans and Aston Villa boss Paul Lambert opted for Clint Eastwood, while David O’Leary, Neil Warnock (!) and Owen Coyle thought George Clooney was the man for the job.
