Roberto Mancini says Edinson Cavani is Manchester City’s top transfer target this summer
Former Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini says Napoli striker Edinson Cavani is the club’s number one transfer target this summmer. And it was Mancini who made him the priority signing.
The Uruguay international has been widely linked with a move to either City or Chelsea this summer. Mancini’s comments seem to confirm that the Premier League runners-up are certainly in the running for his signature or at least were until very recently.
Speaking to Corriere dello Sport, Mancini said: “When I was still at City I made Cavani as our absolute top target for this summer window.”
He also said he didn’t know why the club had sacked him.
He said: “I still don’t know why City have sacked me. They wanted the title within three years, I made it in two years. Soriano never spoke to me.”
