Liverpool reject £30m offer from Arsenal for Luis Suarez
Arsenal have had a club record £30 million bid for Liverpool striker Luis Suarez rejected.
As we reported last week, some bookies have stopped taking bets on the Emirates being Suarez’s destination this summer.
It has now emerged that one of the reasons for a flurry of bets on that happening was an audacious offer from the Gunners, made last week.
The £30 million bid was rejected by the Reds, who insist Suarez is not for sale at any price.
The 26-year-old has stated his desire to leave Anfield this summer, but has cited the English media as his main reason for wanting to leave.
A move to Arsenal would inevitably put an end to any sympathy for him among Liverpool supporters.
The news that the Gunners’ interest went beyond an enquiry and involved a formal bid could flush out offers from the Uruguayan’s other suitors, most notably Real Madrid.
