Everton legend Neville Southall compares Joey Barton to Forrest Gump
After all, Life is like a box of chocolates…

Former Everton goalkeeper Neville Southall has advised his former club not to sign QPR midfielder Joey Barton, who he said is not better than Forrest Gump.
Barton has contacted the Toffees asking them to sign him. He has said he will take a 50 per cent pay-cut to join his boyhood team.
But Southall isn’t convinced that’s such a good deal.
He said: “What is he going to add to Everton? I think they have already got a kitman.
“He might be a half-decent player at times but, if he was that good, then Harry Redknapp would be begging him to stay at QPR.
“I don’t see how he will fit into Everton’s style of play. He isn’t the best passer in the world. Yes he is fit and runs up and down all day but Forrest Gump did that as well, didn’t he?
“I would rather Martinez got in a young lad, who is probably on less money and a better prospect in the long run, so they have got until January to bed him in and see what he is like.
“A 30-year-old at Everton? I was hoping they were past that, unless he was a current international.”
Barton responded on Twitter in a series of posts that are a bit to tiresome to post here.
The first one reads: “aint gonna attack Big Nev, fu*k that. If he thinks I’m Forest Gump, sound. I’m just made up he knows who I am. I loved him as a player.”
He then went off on a bit of a rant about his supposed wages, transfer rumours and “self coined ‘experts'” before adding: “After all, Life is like a box of chocolates…”
