Arsene Wenger waiting for Liverpool to change their minds over Luis Suarez
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger says he is waiting for Liverpool to change their minds before a deal for Luis Suarez can progress.
He told a press conference in Helskinki ahead of a friendly against Manchester City: “Well, there’s nothing to add to what I said already about the transfer of Suarez.
“If it will be done, it will be done in a respectful, amicable way with Liverpool and I didn’t read his (Professional Footballers’ Association boss Gordon Taylor) statements, but that’s how it will work, or not work.
“But we’ll be faithful to the way we want to behave”
Wenger knows his interest in the Uruguyan has been demonstrated by his two unsuccessful bids. And he’s confident that Suarez is keen on a move to the Emirates.
But any transfer is dependent on Liverpool going back on their assertion that Suarez would not be sold.
Wenger added: “To make a transfer happen you need the agreement of three parties – the buyer, the seller and the player. And we know what we want to do. The player, if I look at the statements as well, but Liverpool at the moment does not agree. If they change their mind or not I don’t know. We respect that.”
